Last night, I saw my first fireflies of the summer and heard crickets chirp for the first time in a long time. I was immediately transported back to my youth when I ran myself silly chasing the flickering lights and was lulled to sleep by crickets singing outside my bedroom window.

15 Very Unlikely Photo Contest Categories - Assignment Chicago
Would this photograph qualify as "Portrait" or "Natural Environment"? Hmmm... Maybe it would qualify for one of the categories I suggest below... I wouldn't be the first to suggest that photojournalism contests in their current form don't convey the daily reality of photojournalists. They certainly increase the appreciation of outstanding photojournalism.
