Cash shortfalls at UK Healthcare in the past year prompted the University of Kentucky's academic side to float $87 million in internal loans to its medical division. Of that money, $35 million was lent to help finish construction of hybrid operating rooms in UK Healthcare's new $590 million patient bed tower.

Savannah Dietrich of Louisville told The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/NEcirr) she is frustrated by what she feels is a lenient plea bargain. The boys' attorneys have asked a judge to hold Dietrich in contempt for violating the confidentiality of a juvenile hearing.

Legendary stallion Dynaformer is euthanized at Three Chimneys | Kentucky Derby | Kentucky.com
Dynaformer, the Three Chimneys stallion as famous for his surly temperament as for his winning offspring, was euthanized Sunday at age 27, on what would have been the ninth birthday of his most famous son, the late Barbaro. Dynaformer stood for stud at $150,000 this year but was pensioned April 17 after suffering an aortic valve rupture in his stall.

Syracuse safe after loss, Kansas might be a different story
Kentucky rallied to beat LSU, but two other potential NCAA No. 1 seeds both bit the dust tonight in conference tournaments. Syracuse lost to Cincinnati 71-68 in the Big East semifinals in New York. Kansas lost to Baylor 81-72 in the Big 12 semifinals in Kansas City. The loss shouldn't affect Syracuse's seeding.
