'Champions Plaza,' budget increase for track stadium renovations gets recommendation from UA System physical properties committee
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- The Physical Properties Committee of the University of Alabama System trustees unanimously recommended the construction of the $2.8 million "Champions Plaza" at its meetings today at the Bryant Conference Center. The plaza, which would be located next to Sewell-Thomas Stadium, will provide recognition for the University's athletic programs and also tiered seating for 600 next to the stadium.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama will ask its Board of Trustees to expand the initially approved budget for renovations to Sam Bailey Track Stadium at this week's summer meetings. According to documents obtained by the Tuscaloosa bureau, Alabama will request nearly $800,000 worth of revisions to the budget, increasing the figure from $3.45 million to $4,215,108.
